Two in-vitro skin irritation tests endorsed
The ECVAM Scientific Advisory Committee (ESAC) has endorsed the
scientific validity of two further in-vitro skin irritation tests
on its 29th meeting held in November 2008.
Both models (SkinEthic RHE
and EpiDerm
SIT) are based on reconstructed human epiderms and measure
or predict the same biological or toxic effect as the fully
validated and accepted reference method.
Detailed information can be found on the ECVAM's website NEWS/EVENTS
and MEETINGS section.
Please note that any test method submitted to or validated by ECVAM
must be reviewed and endorsed by its Scientific Advisory
Committee before they can be used within the regulatory
framework.
As
soon as more background documentation will become available for
public access, we will update the website and inform you.
